Why Parsley Hollow?

We have lived in rural Ohio for many years.  Because we wished our children to learn to care responsibly for animals, their tasks included grooming them.  We did not like exposing young children to some of the ingredients present in most pet products, so we founded Parsley Hollow to provide alternative methods to commercial shampoos.  Many of the pet grooming products contain synthetic materials, but we know that our botanical ingredients do a better, safer job of cleaning and protecting your pets’ skins and fur.  Equally important, our products are not harmful to humans.  No aerosols. No petroleums. No detergents. No foaming agents. No animal by-products. No sulfates. No dyes.  No fooling!

Herbs have been a mainstay of grooming and medical care for humans for many centuries.  At one time, herbal derivatives were the only ingredients available for medical conditions.  In fact, some of our most popular drugs owe their existence to herbs.

With the advent of antibiotics and other modern medicines, herbs and plants were disregarded for many years.  The high price of drugs and the harsh side effects of chemicals and synthetic materials have led people to take another look at alternative forms.  At Parsley Hollow, we urge you to follow your veterinarian’s advice for inoculations and serious illnesses, but we think you will find our grooming treatments to be effective, gentle, pleasant, and cost-effective.

Essential oils and hydrosols are extracted from huge amounts of plants, and because they are so highly concentrated, they are diluted in carrier oils.   We are very careful to make the concentration safe for you and your pet.   Although they are gentle, they have medicinal properties and should be respected as such.

We test our products on ourselves; only after we have deemed them safe and without adverse effects, we use them on our own animals.  After years of testing, we have chosen a combination of vegetable oils, organic extracts and essential oils for our formulas instead of petroleum and animal products.  We hope you will enjoy our all-natural products, and we encourage you to strengthen your bond with your beloved animals through regular grooming and contact. Brushing and massaging your pets is soothing for all; your pets bring you comfort and companionship, and a grooming session is the perfect time to show them how much you love them.
